Thomas Rowlandson, Matrimonial Comforts ? Washing Day, 1810

Thomas Rowlandson, né à Londres le 14 juillet 1756 et décédé dans la même ville le 21 avril 1827 est un illustrateur anglais.

À Paris, où il séjourne (1772-1775) chez son oncle, il entre à l'Académie Royale, protégé par Pigalle. En 1777, il s'établit comme peintre de portrait. En 1782, il délaisse la création artistique pour se consacrer presque uniquement au jeu.
